The Faculty of Fisheries celebrated the
'National Fisheries Week 2025' with a series of programs at Bangladesh
Agricultural University (BAU) on 21 August 2025 (Thursday). The events began
with a fisheries rally, led by the honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A K
Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan that started from the front of the faculty building and
concluded at the Old Brahmaputra River Udichi Ghat adjacent to the residence of
the Vice-Chancellor of the university. The rally was attended by Professor Dr.
Md. Ali Reza Faruk, Convenor, National Fish Week 2025 Celebration Committee,
Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sarder, Dean, Faculty of Fisheries, Dr.
Anuradha Bhadra, Director General of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute
(BFRI), Mr. Nripendra Nath Biswas, Divisional Director of the Department of
Fisheries (DoF), Professor Dr. Muhammad Shahidul Haque, Student Affairs
Advisor, BAU, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Alim, Proctor, BAU along with teachers,
students, officers and staff. Following the rally, fish fry was released into
the Old Brahmaputra River to raise awareness about the importance of fish
conservation in inland open waterbodies of Bangladesh. A seminar was also
organized at the Faculty of Fisheries, presided over by Professor Dr. Md.
Rafiqul Islam Sarder, Dean, Faculty of Fisheries. Professor Dr. Zoarder Faruque
Ahmed, Department of Fisheries Management presented the keynote paper.
Distinguished remarks were shared by Dr. Dr. Anuradha Bhadra, Mr. Nripendra
Nath Biswas, as well as teachers and students. It was a joyous occasion for the
Faculty of Fisheries, celebrating the vital role of fisheries in national
development and conservation.
